LEAPSTART PROGRAM @ DOON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – AMRITSAR
For advancing the overall personality development of the students, a wellness program under the name of LEAPSTART has been initiated by Doon International School, Amritsar. This initiative is a vital part of the curriculum and strives to develop higher sensory motor skills in the students along with inculcating team spirit.
LEAPSTART is basically a quality Sports and Fitness program carefully designed by sports specialists and child development psychologists so that superior mental and physical development of the students can be promoted. Every student from grade 1 onwards is eligible to take part in this program. The activities under this program differ from class to class and the school is stocked with the equipment required for the same.
Seeing the benefits that the program yields to its students, the US Department of Education has recognised it as an ‘Exemplary Program’. Indeed, the program is uniquely schemed and draws a bead on physical fitness, improved coordination, greater confidence and better mental health of the students.
The wide range of activities offered under this program are unconventional in the sense that they provide respite from the traditional sports which merely focused on exercising. The active partaking of the students in the program is an unfaltering way of promoting their welfare.
The activities and tasks under this program are carried out under expert supervision of the teachers concerned so that the students can derive the maximise possible benefit out of the developmental motives.
A disciplined lifestyle and good social interaction with the peers are some additional benefits apart from leadership as well as sportsmanship qualities that it instils in the students.
LEAPSTART , thus, is a multi-purpose program which offers a pertinent level of engagement in indoor and outdoor sports activities without compromising on the valuable study time.
